Abe

Abe

Abe's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Hello, I’m Abe, a well-mannered 1.5-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound who weighs about 70 pounds. Treeing raccoons is probably lots of fun, but I’ve been raised as a house pet, and I love to spend as much time as possible with my people! I’m easy to walk on a leash…well, unless I see or smell something that I think would be fun to chase, then I can get a bit excited and pull. I get along well with other dogs and love to wrestle and play. I’m going to Sporty Dog Day Care where I can play with lots of other dogs. I’m housebroken, but not crate-trained. However, can be trusted in the house alone. I will chase cats if they run from me, but if they don’t, I leave them alone. I like to take long walks in the woods and play in streams; it takes a lot to tire me out! But I also don’t mind just hanging out as long as my person is near. I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to2 pm. If you think you might like me for your very own, please read up on my breed at http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/treeingwalkercoonhound.htm

Marshmellow's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Hi! My name is Marshmellow and I am a friendly 2.5-year-old spayed Pit Bull mix who weighs 44 pounds. I was found as a stray, so not too much is known about my history. However, the PAWS volunteers have learned that I am a very friendly girl who has lots of energy and LOVES attention! I am good with older children and other, smaller dogs; however, I would probably chase cats. I am both house broken and crate trained; however, I am well-mannered when left in the house alone, as long as the garbage is put away. In my previous foster home, I was working on commands for "sit", "stay", "come", and "paw". After adoption, my adopter and I will receive FREE training to help me feel more confident in a home with my family thanks to the PAWS Good Dog Fund! I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open!

However, I can be trusted in the house alone. Like many other dogs, I enjoy going on long walks. I walk well on a leash, but I tend to get excited when I see other people or dogs. Also, I am looking for an adult only home. Did I mention that going on car rides is one of my favorite things? I am a very good boy when I ride in the car; feeling the wind in my ears is amazing! I am a very friendly boy who loves to meet new people! When I first came to PAWS, I did not enjoy the company of other dogs; however, I have been working very hard with my Pet Partner on this. Now, I am doing well enough to have my very own girl companion at PAWS! You can see my progress by clicking through all of my pictures! My Pet Partner says that I am proving to be an incredibly smart boy who is improving every day! I walk with a Gentle Leader, which is a type of head collar that keeps me from pulling on my leash. When I have this on, I walk next to my person like a true gentleman. I have also mastered 10 commands and am in the process of learning more! Rocco

Rocco's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Hi, future family! I’m Rocco, a 3.5-month-old Boxer mix. My mom was a purebred Boxer, but we don’t know who my dad was. My foster mom says it doesn’t matter, because I’m 100% adorable! I love other dogs and am going to Sporty Dog Day Care, where I play with lots of them and learn about taking naps in a crate. I’m already housebroken, ride very well in the car, and even walk well on a leash for my age! I also like people and kids, although my puppy energy was too much for the toddler in my former home. I weigh almost 30 pounds now and will probably be a pretty big dog when I’m full grown. I will need to be neutered before being adopted. I am living in a foster home, so I can be seen at PAWS during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm.

Sonny

Sonny's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Hi, everyone! My name is Sonny. I really am my namesake because I am very outgoing and friendly! I may be 9-years-old, but I still act like a puppy with all of my energy. I am a 17 pound Pomeranian that loves to be brushed, cuddled, and sitting for treats. I am housebroken and crate trained. Unfortunately, in my previous home, I was unknowingly reinforced to guard my owner, which means that I get very territorial of my person. However, with help from my Pet Partner, I am learning to over-come that behavior. We often go out to the park and take long walks, where we watch other dogs, humans, and even mingle with horses! My Pet Partner says I am very smart and agile, and has trained me to be able to jump through a hula-hoop and even run through an agility course! She says I am a darling and with the right handler, I love to approach people.
I love to be the center of attention, so I would be best in a home as the only pet, with no children. A very wonderful Guardian Angel has paid my adoption fee for my future family, and I will receive free training through the PAWS Good Dog Fund to make me into the most wonderful dog! I do not show well in regular showings, so I am available to meet by appointment. Please contact dogs@centrecoutnypaws.org to talk about me!

Hello there! My name is Tipper and I am a 5-year-old neutered Beagle who weighs 29 pounds. I am a very sweet boy who is good with children, other dogs, and even cats! I am both house broken and crate trained. I actually enjoy hanging out in my crate when the door is open for me to roam in and out. However, I become upset when the crate door is closed. Therefore, it is thought that I may have some separation anxiety. The PAWS volunteers have noticed that I walk strangely, so it is thought that this may be an indicator of potential arthritis, or my legs may have formed strangely after spending too much time in a crate as a young dog. Although I am a friendly boy, I may need time to warm up to some new people. Because of this, I am looking for an adult-only home. I am good with some other dogs, but it is unknown whether or not I would be good with cats. I am both house broken and crate trained, using a wire crate. Like many other dogs, I tend to be afraid of thunder storms. I am living at the center, so I can be seen any time that PAWS is open. I can't wait to meet you!

Winston

Winston's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Hi! I'm Winston, a playful and loving 1-year-old neutered Shepherd mix who weighs 50 pounds. I am currently living in a foster home with two canine sisters and love it! With daily exercise, consistent rules, and a routine, my foster parents are helping me channel my adolescent energy; they are confident I will blossom into a great adult dog. I came to PAWS from the Huntingdon County Humane Society, but I was originally found as a stray, so I will only be allowed to live with older children. I enjoy walks and wear an Easy Walk Harness. When I can’t be outside, I enjoy laying in the sun and watching the outdoors. I love to play, chew tough dog toys, and play tug of war, yet I am also happy to snuggle up to watch a movie. I sleep quietly through the night in my crate. “Sit”, “paw”, “other paw”, and “down” are commands I already know, but I am working on learning more! I'm a very smart boy who is both house broken and crate trained. I will even receive FREE training from the PAWS Good Dog Fund upon adoption! Please visit me during the Sunday showings from 12pm to 2pm! I tend to get easily excited at the shelter, but my foster parents will tell you how wonderful I am at home.
