Angel

Angel's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 7-year old female purebred cocker spaniel is very docile & a bit of a couch potato! Angel needs a new home because her owner died. Angel loves stuffed toys! Angel is good with other dogs! She will chase cats in a non-aggressive way. Angel has been exposed to children on walks & is stand-off-ish. She prefers to be the one approaching the child (rather than the child approaching her). We think Angel would do fine in a home with children 14 years or older. Angel rides well in a car! Angel is housetrained. She has never been crated. Zippy (also available for adoption) is her son. ADOPTED 3/30/08

Angel

Athena

Athena's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Athena is a lovely 8-12 month old whippet mix looking for her active forever family. She is as sweet as she can possibly be and gets along with men, women and older children. she is probably too active for toddlers and very young kids. She plays very nicely with people and dogs (all ages and size) and has no food or toy aggression issues. She knows how to sit, play fetch, and tug. She is crate trained and most probably housetrained (no accidents in her foster home). She walks well on a lead, but can pull when there is something exciting to explore. She also rides very well in a crate in the car, but can get a little queasy at first. She can bark, but she doesn't seem to bark at the door or people coming and going. She can be a little shy when she first meets you, but once she warms up, she is your best pal. Athena would do very well in a home with another dog. Cats are unknown at this time. Being a young sighthound, Athena will need an active home with plenty of play, walks or another pup to play with her! She will probably be around 15 lbs when full grown. Her picture is coming soon! ADOPTED 3/5/08

Attila

Attila

Attila's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little miniature pinscher needs a home! Attila's owner is in a nursing home & no longer able to care for Attila. (Attila lived with Leanyka, Magda, & Chester). He was born on 7/14/99 and only weighs 9.2 pounds. Attila & the other little min pins have lived in a kennel for the past 1.5 years, when their owner first became ill. Attila is very sensitive, & very in-tune with people! He's also very affectionate and observant. You can almost see the little wheels turning in his head! Attila was a show dog when he was younger! He has not been exposed to children. Because of his size & age, he needs a home with no children. Attila marks in the kennel, so he may need some work on housetraining. Attila is a common Hungarian name for "boys". Attila is neutered. ADOPTED 12/7/08

Baxter

Baxter

Baxter's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 1-year old male border collie/lab mix is a very friendly dog! Baxter is full of energy, so he needs a home that can give him the exercise he needs! He has been around 3 & 4 year old children. While he is friendly, he is rambunctious, and somewhat undersocialized, so he would do best in a home where all members of the family are experienced dog handlers. Baxter spent most of his life in a crate before PAWS took him. We were told that Baxter loves other dogs. However, as a result of being crated all the time in the past, he is overly excited around them now. As he has time to socialize with the people at PAWS and with everyone who comes to meet him, this behavior may disappear. Also, he has shown some initial signs of food aggression in the kennel. This behavior may disappear as he is socialized. We don't know how Baxter is with cats. When Baxter is playing, he will growl -- but he is just playing. He is also afraid of some men with hats. Baxter is housetrained, but he will need some reinforcement. Baxter is crate trained & neutered! He is a mid-sized dog, weighing about 45-50 lbs. Baxter is living in a kennel & needs a home! Click on Baxter's picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 1/23/08

Baya

Baya

Baya's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little 7-year old male pomeranian needs a calm home! Baya is a wonderful dog for an adult living in a quiet home! He is excellent around cats if the cats are calm. Baya becomes disturbed if there are loud noises. The loud sounds get him upset & he then will go into a barking frenzy. He will become aggressive with another dog when he's in that state. For this reason, we think Baya should live as an only dog. He loves his stuffed football sqeaky toy! He walks well on a leash! Baya doesn't like cars, laundry machine & people leaving the house. He is housetrained, cratetrained & neutered. Baya is possessive over his food & water. Click on Baya's picture to see him jumping in excitment! ADOPTED 9/16/08

Beagle Puppies!

Beagle Puppies!

Beagle Puppies!'s Bio at the Time of Adoption:

These 8 adorable beagles are Joy's puppies (Joy is also available for adoption). They appear to have some bassett hound in them as well, so they will be a bit bigger than a beagle, maybe 35 pounds. The 3 females and 5 males will be 8 weeks old and ready to go to their forever homes on April 16. They are friendly, playful, and inquisitive. They are up-to-date on their shots. ADOPTED 5/20/08.

Bear

Bear

Bear's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

A Lonely Hearts Club Dog
This 6-year old small black lab is great with everyone! Bear loves to be with people! He is excellent with children of all ages! He is good with cats & dogs that are smaller than he is. He loves to play ball or to just hang out with his person! Bear knows 'sit' & 'shake'! He walks easily on a leash & rides well in a car! Bear is housetrained. He will bark if he is left alone outside. Also, he can be destructive if left alone in the house, however he can not be crated. So Bear needs a home in which someone is always home. Bear also doesn't like loud noises. He is already neutered. Bear desperately needs a new home! Click on Bear's picture to see another photo of this gorgeous guy! ADOPTED 2/25/08

Although Bear is generally fine with everyone, sometimes he can be shy around some men. Bear is available for adoption now and will be neutered before he is adopted. Click on Bear's picture for a different shot. ADOPTED 10/26/08

Beatrice

Beatrice's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 2.5 year old female golden mix is very loving! Beatrice is a very nice dog! Don't let her calm demeanor fool you though -- she is very exuberant & energetic! So she needs lots of exercise! Beatrice is good with other dogs, but we don't know how she is with cats. She has not been around children. She is very mouthy --which many retrievers are. However, she can get rough, and so she would need some training on softening her mouth. Because of this & her exuberance, she would be most appropriate for a home without young children (under 8 years). Beatrice is already housetrained & spayed. Beatrice is living in a kennel & needs a home! ADOPTED 5/6/08

Beau

Beau's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Bo is a 4yr old daschund that is very good with kids and with other dogs. Bo is currently in a foster home and working on house training. We'll post more information on Bo as we learn more about him. Picture coming soon. ADOPTED 10/26/08

Becca

Becca's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 7-month old golden retriever/white german shepherd has lots & lots of energy! Becca loves everyone, including other dogs & cats! However, she does jump on people when she first greets them, & will knock toddlers & other young children down. Also, because of her energy level, she tends to be too much for older dogs to handle. Becca loves to please her people! She is also very bright! Becca is housetrained. However, she will dribble the first few days she is in her new home, especially if someone raises their voice. But once she gets acclimated, she should be fine. Becca is also cratetrained. Becca will be spayed before she is adopted. ADOPTED 6/14/08

Berit

Berit

Berit's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This purebred 5-year old German shepherd is a wonderfully sweet dog! Berit (it's a German name) is an active dog & loves to run & play! She has lived with children as young as 6 years of age & she is great with them! Berit is good with most dogs (both large & small), although she tends to be the dominant one. She has not been exposed to cats. Berit is housetrained & cratetrained! She is used to being crated when no one is home. She can open the locks on a metal crate, but when she does, she stays calmly in the crate. Berit rides well in a car. She is afraid of vacuum cleaners & she will dig if bored. Berit is already spayed. She is living in the kennel at PAWS & needs a home! ADOPTED 8/7/08

Bernard

Bernard

Bernard's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little white teacup poodle is a lapdog! Bernard was rescued (with the other little poodles that are available for adoption through PAWS) when his owner suddenly died. All of these little poodles are older. They are timid when you approach them. However, each one of them loves to be held! They appear to be partially housetrained. Because they are older, they will not be placed into homes with younger children (under 12). Bernard is the white poodle in the picture. Andre is behind him. ADOPTED 4/4/08

Bernard

Bernard

Bernard's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Bessie

Bessie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 1-year old cockachin (cocker spaniel/Japanese chin mix) is very lovable! Bessie has lived with children as young as 7 years of age, & she is good with them! She gets excited & will run around & jump up a lot (which is natural since she's still very much a puppy). Once she is exercised, she becomes calm & lovable! She likes to hang out on the couch with her people! If Bessie isn't exercised enough, she can be a little nippy. Because of this, she would do best in a home where children are old eanogh to deal with her nippiness (children 8 years or older). Bessie is housetrained & cratetrained! She doesn't like living with other dogs, so she should be the only dog in her home. She hasn't been around cats. Bessie needs to be taken to a groomer regularly. She only weighs about 25 lbs. Bessie will be spayed before she is adopted. She is living in a kennel & needs a home! her picture is coming soon! ADOPTED 10/8/2008

(He likes to sleep in his person's bed under the covers, with his head on the pillow!) He is friendly with adults & mature children (about 10 years of age & older). Blizzard gets along with other dogs, although he is very dominate on the inital meeting. After the first meeting, he loves to play with the other dog! He has lived with a cat in the past, but he would do best in a home without one. Blizzard loves to follow his person around the house -- so he is a wonderful companion! He also loves taking car rides. Blizzard's coat reists dirt & he sheds very little. Blizzard is about 8 years old. He is neutered & housetrained. This 2-3 year old male boxer/beagle mix loves to be with people! Boss has been around children as young as 2 years of age & he has been fine with them (although he will jump on them in his exhuberance!) Boss is a very cute & friendly dog! We were told that he is good with other dogs, although living in the kennel at PAWS may be making him more reactive to other dogs. We don't know how Boss is with cats. Boss has an average energy level. He is also housetrained for the most part (he is used to going outside at certain times, & if he doesn't go out, then he has had accidents). We were told that Boss will bark when left alone. In his prior home, Boss would bark when left alone & chew things up if he wasn't confined. However, Boss is currently living in the kennel at PAWS, and we haven't noticed these problems there. Poor Boss just needs a home that can help him adjust to normal family living, & be willing to work with him on these issues. Please think about giving Boss a chance in your home! Boss is living in a kennel at PAWS & desperately needs a home! Boss is already neutered. ADOPTED 9/29/2008

This gorgeous female shepherd mix is about 7 months old and as sweet and playful as can be. Bowie is living with other dogs and is doing well with them. She still has lots of puppy in her but tries hard to remember not to jump or take things off the counter. She loves to run and play chase with the other dogs in the house and to be near her person: she’ll sleep at your feet or sit by your side. Bowie is up to date on her shots and will be spayed before she is adopted. If you’re looking for a loving and fun-loving companion, Bowie may just be for you! ADOPTED 5/18/08

Brutus

Brutus' Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Brutus is a 4yr old german shepherd/lab mix that’s a big bundle of love. He is really poorly named-- there is no brute in him at all! He is very friendly with all and really eager to please. In his prior home, he lived with kids and other dogs and loves to play with them both. Our volunteers have learned that Brutus really loves to be around kids and that he loves to swim. Brutus is house trained, up to date on all shots, is already neutered, and is micro-chipped. ADOPTED 11/18/2008

Buddy the lab mix

Buddy the lab mix

Buddy the lab mix's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 3-year old black lab/border collie mix is the perfect dog! Buddy is excellent with young children. He has lived with children aged 4 years & older, & is great with them. Buddy is also wonderful with other dogs. He hasn't been around cats. Buddy loves to play with his people! He loves fetch, although he doesn't always bring the toy back to his person. He is fun & energetic! At the same time, Buddy is also calm & relaxed. Buddy is very lovable! He thrives on love & affection. When Buddy is on your lap or next to you, he will melt into you. He also loves treats & ice cubes. Buddy is a quiet dog -- he rarely barks! He knows some commands, like "back" (which means wait at the door), sit, stay & shake. "Out?" means he needs to go outside. Buddy needs a new home because the second dog in his house became aggressive with him. Buddy wouldn''t defend himself -- instead he just licked her face when the other dog was being mean to him. He will be neutered before he is adopted. Click on Buddy's picture to see a slightly different picture of him. ADOPTED 9/28/2008

Buddy the yellow lab

Buddy the yellow lab

Buddy the yellow lab's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This handsome fellow is looking for a new family! Buddy is about 2 years old & he is full of energy! Buddy is housetrained & good with other dogs! He has lived with older children & should be fine living in a home with older children who would enjoy an active & energetic dog. Buddy weighs about 60 lbs. & he will jump on people, so he would knock small children down. Buddy likes to hunt & will run-off to chase his prey. So he should not be off-leash or contained by an invisible fence. Buddy is living in a kennel & he desperately needs a home! He gets so excited when people walk by, that he bangs his tail against the kennel wall & it's getting beat up! Please think about giving Buddy a loving home! Click on Buddy's picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 7/20/08

Buddy

Buddy

Buddy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Buddy is a super friendly and handsome 1.5yr old rottwheiler. Buddy came to PAWS from Orphans of the Storm. They got a call on memorial day from the state troopers saying a rottie had been hit on I-180. They went and got him and treated his broken leg (completely healed now) and a bacterial infection and nursed him back to health. In his Orphans of the Storm foster home he has lived with several dogs of various sizes, cats, and older children and has done great with them all. He is house trained and crate trained. Buddy is a large adolescent male. While he is very friendly he can also be protective, and his new family will need to work with him on that. ADOPTED 10/30/2008

Buddy

Buddy

Buddy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 1-year old male beagle mix loves attention! Buddy is excellent with other dogs, cats & children of all ages! He is an active dog, so he would enjoy a family that has the time to play with him & take him for lots of walks! Being a beagle mix, Buddy can not be off-leash when he is outside (unless he's in a fenced yard). Buddy is easy to please! He is used to getting a treat when he goes "potty" outside. Buddy is housetrained & making great progress on cratetraining. Buddy is living in a kennel & needs a home! Buddy will be neutered before he is adopted. Click on Buddy's picture to see a photo of him playing with his toy! ADOPTED 3/2/08

This little senior toy fox terrier loves to be held! Buddy is housetrained & neutered! He is living in a foster home with other small dogs & he is doing well! Buddy knows how to "speak"! He has no idea that he's a senior dog. He has the same energy level of dogs 1/2 his age! Buddy likes walks and is great on the leash. His long legs make him look like a tiny deer! He rides in the car very well although he does prefer to be on your lap. Buddy follows his person around the house and likes to sleep under the covers. He gets along with other dogs in his foster home, but he can be just a little possessive of his person if he's not getting his share of attention. What a sweetheart! ADOPTED 9/14/08

Buffy

Buffy

Buffy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 9-year old purebred shitzu & her sister, Josie, have spent most of their life in a pen & have been used for breeding. So we really want to find Buffy & Josie a home that will make them part of the family! Buffy is playful & happy, especially once she gets to know you! Buffy has always lived with her sister, Josie, & if they are placed as the only dog or cat in the house, then we want to place them together. However, if there is another small dog in the house, then we think they can be placed separately. Buffy has been around children as young as 5 years. Because she is older, she would do best placed in a home without young children. Buffy is frightened of loud sounds. Buffy has lived with other small dogs and cats, and she does fine. (However, if she & Josie are together, they tend to bully the other small animal). Buffy is housetrained. She will be spayed before she is adopted. Buffy & Josie are living in a kennel & desperately need a home! They are very frightened in the kennel! Click on Buffy's picture to see another photo of her! ADOPTED 10/31/2008

This little senior beagle needs a nice dogbed to hang out on! Buttercup is very sweet! Buttercup is good with other dogs (although she is older & doesn't want another dog in her face). She is fine with cats. She would do fine in a home with children old enough to know how to treat an older dog. Buttercup is housetrained. Buttercup can step up 1 or 2 steps, but she can not climb stairs. She has always lived with Angelina, who also needs a new home. Buttercup & Angelina need a new home because their former owner is very ill & can no longer care for them. They do not have to be placed together in the same home. Buttercup is about 12-13 years old & is already spayed. Click on Buttercup's photo to see another picture of her! ADOPOTED 2/16/06

Callie

Callie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This beautiful female yellow lab loves people! Callie is about 3 years old. She is energetic, but at the same time, she loves to just hang out & sit at her person's feet. Callie rides very well in a car! She loves water! Callie was originally a stray, & we think she was chained to a dog house for most of her life. But her foster home has worked with her on housetraining and making her the perfect housedog! However, if she went to a new home, she might need some reinforcement on this training. Callie is good with dogs that are the same size as her, but she does not like small or medium-sized dogs. ADOPTED 11/2/2008

Chance

Chance

Chance's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 2-year old male beagle is wonderful with adults & children of all ages! Chance is very lovable & friendly! He just loves people! Chance is good with other dogs as well! He hasn't been exposed to cats, so he might chase them as first. Chance is partially housetrained. His prior owner didn't crate him, so proper crating should help him become totally housetrained. Chance is a young dog & will get into things & chew them up when alone. So we do recommend crating him when he is alone during the day. Chance was a housedog the first months of his life, but then he was given to someone who chained him to a dog house. Then Chance was given to a family, but they didn't have time for him. So he has really been bounced around! Chance just needs a loving family that will make him part of their family, and who has the time to train & be with him! Chance is living in a kennel at PAWS & needs a home! He will be neutered before he is adopted. ADOPTED 11/30/09

Chance

Chance

Chance's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 1.5 year old male lab/husky mix has lots of energy & loves to run & go for walks! Chance also loves people! He lives with a 10-year old child & has been exposed to toddlers. He is excellent with everyone! However, Chance is very hand shy, although he improves once he knows you & you work with him on this. He can also be fearful in new situations. For these reasons, we recommend a home with no children or older children who are used to handling timid dogs. He is also good with cats & most other dogs! Chance likes to chew on his bones. He is afraid of thunder & other loud sounds. Chance Chance is housetrained, crate trained & neutered! Click on his picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 9/17/08

Chandler

Chandler's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 10-month old male maltese-poodle mix is a living doll! Chandler only weighs about 10 lbs., but he is very energetic! He loves to play! He also loves people! Chandler wants to be with his person -- he needs a home where he can sleep with his person at night & be on their lap whenever they are sitting down! He is housetrained & neutered. Chandler does chew, but of course he is still a puppy! He also barks quite a bit. He is good with older, mature children. ADOPTED 3/5/08

Charlotte

Charlotte's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This adorable female terrier mix needs a new home! Charlotte is about 3 years old, and she only weighs about 12 lbs! Charlotte was left at PAWS, so we don't know too much about her. She seems to be housetrained. We suspect that she will want to sleep with her person. Charlotte can be "yippy" sometimes. We do not know her history with children, but we suspect she would be fine in a home with children who are old enough to know how to properly handle a small dog (about 10 years or older). Charlotte will be spayed before she is adopted. Charlotte is living in a kennel & needs a home! ADOPTED 7/1/08

Chester

Chester

Chester's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little miniature pinscher needs a home! Chester's owner is in a nursing home & no longer able to care for Chester. (Chester lived with Leanyka, Magda, & Attila). He was born on 7/14/99 and only weighs 8.5 pounds. Chester & the other little min pins have lived in a kennel for the past 1.5 years, when their owner first became ill. Chester is playful and sometimes a little "naughty" but he is full of life and loves to play! Chester was a show dog when he was younger! He has not been exposed to children. Because of his size & age, he needs a home with no children. Chester marks in the kennel, so he may need some work on housetraining. Chester is neutered. ADOPTED 11/16/2008

Chippy

Chippy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 4-year old male purebred cocker spaniel is in desperate need of a home because his owner died! Chippy is an active dog who loves his chew toys & blankets! Chippy is good with other dogs! He will chase cats in a non-aggressive way. Chippy has been exposed to children on walks & is stand-off-ish. He prefers to be the one approaching the child (rather than the child approaching him). We think Chippy would do fine in a home with children 14 years or older. Chippy does fine riding in a car! Chippy is housetrained. He has never been crated. Chippy is staying in the kennel; this is the first time he has ever been in a kennel, so he is feeling traumatized. Chippy is neutered. Chippy & Zippy (also available for adoption) are brothers, although they will be placed separately. Angel is their mother, & she is also available for adoption. ADOPTED 1/30/08

Chucky

Chucky

Chucky's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 130-lb. 4-year old black lab/rottie mix is wonderful with everyone! Chuckie is excellent with children of all ages! He is also very good with other dogs! He is good with cats, although he will chase & try to play with them! Chucky is housetrained & cratetrained! He likes to hang out in his crate, especially if he needs to get away from it all. He does need to be crated when no one is home, otherwise he will have an accident in the house. Chucky's energy level ranges from couch potato to average -- it depends if there is anything to get excited about! Chucky walks easily on a leash if you use a prong collar. He also rides well in a car! Chucky loves children! He also loves to just sit outside! Chucky thinks he's a lapdog, so he does like to get on the furniture (couch, bed) with his people. Chucky is living in a kennel & needs a home! Click on Chucky's picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 6/30/08

Clay

Clay's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 11-month old handsome pup was found as a stray with his siser, Nickie! He is just so sweet! We think Clay is an Am. Staffordshire terrier mix. He might also be mixed with doberman or greyhound. Clay is a fantastic dog! He is a real lover! Also, Clay is very energetic, as is typical of the breed. But he also loves to just hang out on the couch with his person! Clay is very intelligent & adjusts easily to new situations! Clay is already housetrained & cratetrained, although he may need some reinforcement. He is also doing a lot of puppy biting & will need someone who can work with him on that. Clay needs a home with dog experience. He would do best in a home with no other dogs or cats. Clay is living in a kennel & needs a home! Click on Clay's picture to see him smiling! ADOPTED 1/3/08

Cleveland

Cleveland

Cleveland's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This beautiful 6-month old Siberian husky is full of energy! Cleveland is good with children. Because Cleveland is engaging in a lot of puppy biting, we do not recommend a home with children under 8 years. He hasn't been exposed to other dogs since he left his litter mates 4 months ago. However, most huskies are good with other dogs. Cleveland is making good progress on housetraining, but he still needs some work. He is cratetrained. We will not place Cleveland in a home with cats due to the prey drive that characterizes most huskies. Click on Cleveland's picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 1/5/08

Dryfus

Dryfus' Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Dryfus is a male shepherd/lab/husky mix & he is just a little over 1 year old! Dryfus is a very sweet dog who is eager to please his person. He gets very excited when he sees you for the first time, but he calms down after a few minutes. He is very energetic and needs a good walk, jog, or half an hour of fetch every day. However, he is also very smart and learns new commands quickly. He knows sit, crate, come, and drop. He is trying very hard to learn stay, but he really enjoys being with his humans and does not like to stay too far from them. All he asks in return for his hard work is love and attention. Dryfus is house-trained and crate-trained. He only barks when someone comes to the door. Also, he will bark at cats & go after them in a non-aggressive way. Once he gets used to the cat, he will go up to a cat & bob his head at the cat; if the cat hits him, he walks away! Gidget is a very calm dog, but she is also quite active for her age! She has been exposed to children of different ages, & she is fine with everyone! However, because Gidget is older, it would be best if she lived in a home where children come to visit rather than Gidget living with a young child all the time. Gidget is good with other dogs, although she doesn't like it when other dogs try to play with her. She would prefer other dogs just leave her alone. She hasn't been around cats, although we suspect Gidget is fine with them. Gidget is housetrained & cratetrained. Gidget needs a new home because her owner moved to a no-pets apartment. Gizmo is very friendly once he feels comfortable with you! Gizmo loves people (once he is comfortable with the people he is around). He is good with cats! He plays rough with other dogs & tends to dominate. So we think he would do best as the only dog in the household. Gizmo is skittish around young children. He will also nip at people's legs when he is excited. We think he would do best in a home with children over the age of 12 years. Gizmo is partially housetrained, so his new person will have to work on that with him. He is cratetrained. Gizmo gets carsick, so he would do best with a family that doesn't want to take him on a lot of car trips. Click on his picture to see another photo of him! Gizmo is living in a kennel & needs a home! ADOPTED 3/4/08

Gladys

Gracie is an 8.5 month old Boxer that is sweet as can be. She loves other dogs and is great with children of all ages! So far she seems fine with the cat in her foster home. She has some separation anxiety which she is working on in her foster home. She will bark in a crate for about 10 minutes if she knows people are still in the house. When she is crated and you leave the house she seems to be quiet though. Gracie pulls on a leash and will need some training in that area. Gracie loves to sleep in bed and she sleeps like a log all night! She is a small Boxer girl (44 pounds right now) that would love a home to call her own. Gracie will be spayed on 8/29. Gracie is housebroken for the most part but will poop in the house on occasion if you don't watch her so she will need some more training in that area. ADOPTED 8/29/08.

Henrietta

Henrietta's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little 8-year old female yorkie loves people & to go visiting! Henrietta also loves to give kisses! She enjoys going for walks -- which is a good thing, since she needs to lose a few pounds to be a healthy girl! Henrietta was given to PAWS because her owner is moving to a retirement home & is no longer able to care for her. Henrietta is trained to piddle pads, but will let you know when she needs to go outside. She is used to her person being home all the time, and she has shown some separation issues when her foster mom leaves for an hour or two, so she would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time. Henrietta gets along with ctas & other dogs, although she is dominant & can be bossy with other, more timid dogs. Henrietta is well behaved around young children, so she would be fine in a home in which young children come to visit occassionally. Given her age & size, we would not place her in a home in which young children lived. Henrietta sleeps on the bed, next to her foster mom. She has her own pillow, but likes to share a pillow at the top of her person's head! This little girl will make a wonderful companion for someone who has the time to spend with her! Henrietta will be spayed before she is adopted! ADOPTED 8/31/08

They are timid when you approach them. However, each one of them loves to be held! They appear to be partially housetrained. He also has some dominance issues, & needs a home with an experienced handler who can work with him on this. Jack would do best in a home without young children. Jack is living in a kennel & needs a home! Click on Jack's photo to see another picture of him! ADOPTED 6/2/08

Jack

Jack

Jack's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 3-year old male jack russell terrier is a very good dog! Jack is energetic, so he needs a home that can exercise him properly! He loves to go for car rides! Jack loves attention! He wants to be cuddled & hugged or to sit on his person's lap or to have his belly rubbed! Jack walks well on a leash! Jack needs a nice quiet home without a lot of people coming & going. He is protective of his people, so he will growl at a stranger that approaches one of his people in a threatening way. Also, Jack can be nippy or bite if there is too much excitment going on around him, so he would be a wonderful dog for a single person or couple who have a stable lifestyle. He has interacted with some dogs & he has been fine with them (although he might bark aggressively at a strange dog when out on a walk). Jack has been around cats in the past, & he was fine with them. Jack is housetrained & cratetrained. However, he will mark when he goes into a new home. Jack is already neutered. Jack is living in a kennel & needs a home! ADOPTED 8/9/08

Jacks loves attention in return! If you pat your chest, Jacks will give you a hug by putting his paws on your shoulders! Jacks is very intelligent! He has lived with children as young as 5 years of age, & he is excellent with them! Jacks is also very friendly with other dogs, both big & small! We don't know how is he is with cats, although given his friendly, outgoing nature, he might try to play with them by chasing them a little. Jacks loves to play with his stuffed toy! He also loves to go for car rides! Jacks is housetrained & neutered. He has been chained to a doghouse for the past 6 months, so he might need a refresher on housetraining. Now Jacks is living in a kennel at PAWS & he needs a home! ADOPTED 6/4/08

Jacob

Jacob

Jacob's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Jake is very sweet & lovable. He also loves to play! Jake has been around children as young as 10 years of age, & he is fine with them! Jake is very dominant with other dogs, so he would probably do best as the only dog. Jake hasn't had much exposure to cats. Jake likes to dig in the back yard & is still doing some puppy chewing. He is housetrained & crate trained, although he will sometimes have an accident when he gets excited. ADOPTED 9/2/08

Jaeda has lived with children as young as 6 years of age & she is great with them! She is also good with other dogs & cats! Jaeda is very much a puppy & will chew on things -- but this is typical of puppies this age. Jaeda loves people & thrives on lots of love & attention! She is working on housetraining in her foster home. She is cratetrained. Click on Jaeda's picture to see another photo of her! ADOPTED 9/5/08

Jake's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This gorgeous black lab mix is very loving & playful! Jake has lived with children, is housetrained & cratetrained! He is energetic & also very well behaved! Jake is a big dog; he probably weighs over 80 lbs. Jake walks well on a leash, although he may pull a little. We aren't sure how he is with other dogs. He would probably do best with dogs that are closer in size to him. We do not recommend a home with cats for Jake. Jake is living in a kennel & desperately needs a home! He is already neutered. ADOPTED 4/1/08

Jasmine

Jasmine

Jasmine's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This adult female Japanese chin is the sweetest thing! Jasmine (Jasi for short) lived in a small pen most of her life, so she is learning about living in a house in her foster home! Jasi only weighs about 12 lbs. She is good with other dogs & cats! Jasi loves to play with other dogs, but she does play a little rough. Jasmine will be spayed & have a much needed dental before she is adopted. Jasmine came from the Centre Hall SPCA. ADOPTED 6/16/08

Jay

Jay

Jay's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 9-month old lab/husky mix is all puppy! Jay is very playful & full of energy! He craves attention! Jay was found starving by the side of the road several months ago. The people who found him nursed him back to health, but they weren't able to keep him. So that's how PAWS got him! Jay is good with children of all ages, but he will knock them over. He seems to be good with other dogs & cats, although he will bark at cats! He loves to play with his rope toy! He also loves fetch! Jay likes to sleep on a big fluffy pillow! He is nearly housetrained, although you need to watch him. Because Jay was found starving, he likes to have some food in his dish at all times -- it helps calm him. Jay doesn't like loud noises or fast moves. He does bark when he is excited. He doesn't like to be left alone. Jay is already neutered! Click on Jay's picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 8/3/08

Joey

Joey

Joey's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This gentle & loving lab/husky mix desperately needs a home because his family is moving! Joey is wonderful with everyone -- children of all ages, cats & other dogs! Joey is an easy-going dog! He's very laid-back & a bit of a couch potato! Joey doesn't like to be alone for long periods, so he needs a home where someone is home most of the time. Joey is housetrained & cratetrained (the plastic crate works best!). He is terrified of thunderstorms & can be destructive if he is confined during them. His prior family sedated him when they knew a storm was coming. Joey is neutered. Click on Joey's picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 5/3/08

Josie

Josie

Josie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 9-year old purebred shitzu & her sister, Buffy, have spent most of their life in a pen & have been used for breeding. So we really want to find Josie & Buffy a home that will make them part of the family! Josie is shy & quiet, but she is wonderful with people once she gets to know you! Once she bonds with you, she won't want to leave you! Josie has always lived with her sister, Buffy, & if they are placed as the only dog or cat in the house, then we want to place them together. However, if there is another small dog in the house, then we think they can be placed separately. Josie has been around children as young as 5 years. Because she is older, she would do best placed in a home without young children. Josie is frightened of loud sounds. Josie has lived with other small dogs and cats, and she does fine. (However, if she & Buffy are together, they tend to bully the other small animal). Josie is housetrained. She will be spayed before she is adopted. Josie & Buffy are living in a kennel & desperately need a home! They are very frightened in the kennel! ADOPTED 10/31/2008

Kiesha was found as a stray, but we think she is about 10 months old. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home but shows some aggression when on a leash around strange dogs. We believe training and lots of socializing will help her get over that. Kiesha is working on housebreaking and basic commands in her foster home, but she really needs a home where she will get the exercise, training, and love she deserves. Kiesha will be spayed before she is adopted. ADOPTED 10/30/2008

Kimo is an active dog, but he can also be a couch potato! He can be destructive when left alone, however that is to be expected since he is still a puppy! Kimo loves attention! He also loves to snuggle with his person & to sleep with them at night! Kimo is a medium sized dog, weighing about 60 lbs. Kimo is already neutered! He is living in a kennel at PAWS & needs a home! Koko rides well in a car! He is also housetrained. Koko is destructive when left alone, so he does need to be crated. Howver, he doesn't like the crate (he will pant & drool), so he would do best in a home in which he would not have to be crated for long periods of time. Marley was starving when he was found as a stray several months ago. He has gained weight now & looks good! However, because of that history, he will eat to excess, and so his food intake has to be controlled by his person. Marley rides well in a car! ADOPTED 6/18/08

Marley

Marley

Marley's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Marley is a very handsome 8 month old yellow lab. Marley is crate trained and house trained. He is very playful and friendly and seems to get along with everything and everyone! He's been through puppy school and walks well on a leash. He's now in a foster home and we'll post more information about Marley as his foster mom gets to know him better. ADOPTED 12/22/08

Marmaduke

Marmaduke

Marmaduke's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This male lab/great dane mix is about 4-5 years old and is an active, well behaved dog! Marmaduke knows "sit" & "leave it"! He also walks well on a leash! But at the same time, he is playful & energetic! Marmaduke is good with other dogs. He was found as a stray, so we don't know how he is with children or cats. The people who found him, had him in their home for about a week, & they found that he is also housetrained! Marmaduke is a real sweetheart! He is living in a kennel & needs a home! Marmaduke is already neutered. ADOPTED 11/23/2008

Martha

Martha

Martha's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Martha was abandoned, along with her sister Maisy: just left in a crate on the front porch of an unoccupied house. By the time they were found, they were dehydrated and covered in filth. Now cleaned up and ready to be adopted, this approximately 4-month-old lab-shepherd mix is more sweet and loving than can be believed. She gets along well with other dogs and cats and is working on housebreaking in her foster home. Martha is a bit more timid than her sister, but who can resist her beautiful face? If you’re looking for a friendly and energetic companion, please consider giving Martha a home that will make her forget all about her scary experience. ADOPTED 6/6/08

Mary

Mary

Mary's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This female shepherd mix is very friendly & outgoing! Mary is 2-4 years old. She rides very well in a car! Mary is very affectionate & loves to be with people! She will sit in your lap if you let her! Mary does not seem to like small dogs, and she probably would not do well with cats. Mary was found as a stray, so we don't know a lot more about her. We think that Mary is housetrained & cratetrained. She is spayed & up-to-date on shots! Mary is staying in a kennel & needs a home! ADOPTED 4/6/08

Maximilian

Maximilian

Maximilian's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This german shepherd mix is a friendly & outgoing dog! Maximilian (Max, for short) has lots of energy -- but not so much you can't keep up with him! Max can be protective of his home. He is okay with older children, but he has a problem with some young children. He seems to be good with other dogs, but he doesn't seem to like cats. Max is about 8-9 yrs. old. He is already neutered, housetrained & up-to-date on shots! Click on Max's picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 9/18/08

Mazie

Mazie

Mazie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Maize is a very loving 8 year old Eskipoo (an Eskimo spitz/poodle mix). She's energetic, but can also settle down and cuddle with her people. Maize has Addison's disease, which is a hormone imbalance easily controlled with medication (about $30 per month). Stress makes her condition worsen so Maize would do best in a quiet home. She's fine with older children who know how to be respectful towards her. Maize does not get along with cats or dogs so she should go to a house where she is the only pet. She's a great girl who just needs a little extra care and a new loving home. Mazie is currently living in a foster home. ADOPTED 11/17/2008

Minnie

Minnie

Minnie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little dachshund mix is as sweet as can be! Minnie is good with children of all ages, other dogs & cats! Minnie only weighs about 15 lbs -- so she is a little girl! Minnie recently had a litter. One of her puppies, Starlight, is still available for adoption. Minnie will be spayed before she is adopted. ADOPTED 4/6/08

Missy

Missy

Missy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 11-year old female shitzu needs a home because her owner is no longer able to care for her. Missy is a couch potato! But she also loves to go for walks! Missy is good with small dogs, but she doesn't like big dogs. We don't know how she is with cats. Missy is fine with children who know how to handle her properly. Missy is used to using piddle pads & exercising on walks. She can not be crated under any circumstances. Maggie becomes very agitated in a crate, & in fact she lost the sight in her one eye because she hurt herself trying to get out of a crate. Missy is just the sweetest dog! She desperately needs a home! Missy is already spayed. Click on Missy's picture to see a slightly different photo of her! ADOPTED 8/31/08

Mistletoe

Mistletoe

Mistletoe's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Mistletoe is a very cute and cuddly 7 week pup. His mom was a 40lb blue tick hound and his dad was a 70lb black lab. Mistletoe came in with two of his siblings and is looking for a home for the holidays. ADOPTED 12/14/08

Mitzi

Mitzi

Mitzi's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Mitzi, a cairn terrier is a lapdog! Mitzi is female & about 6 years old. Mitzi is very docile and loves people! She is good with children and would be a wonderful dog for someone who has children come to visit (like grandchildren). However, because of her age, we do not think she would be appropriate for a home with young children. She tends to be afraid of bigger dogs. Mitzi is housetrained, spayed & neutered! Her brother Maxi is also available. ADOPTED 9/7/08

Mocha

Mocha

Mocha's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 1-year-old male English bulldog is a very sweet dog! Mocha is quite calm for a puppy & is a real couch potato! Being a puppy, he likes to chew, so he will need chew toys. He is used to receiving a lot of attention. He is also quite stubborn. Mocha is also very nippy, in general, & will grab you with his mouth. Mocha becomes frightened if you yell at him, & if handled improperly, he will react aggressively. For these reasons, Mocha needs a quiet stable home with 1 or 2 mature patient adults (and no children or teens) who have the skills to work with him on this behavior. He is housetrained & cratetrained. He does need to be crated if left alone. Mocha is good with other dogs, but will chase cats if they run. He is already neutered. ADOPTED 7/13/08

Molly

Molly's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 6-month old springer spaniel/lab mix is super friendly and outgoing! Molly gets along great with people of all ages! She has lived with a 3-year old child in the past & was good with her. Molly also does well with other dogs! Molly is still a pup, and as expected, she has lots of energy! She loves to play ball! After some exercise, Molly settles right down and just wants to be near her people. Molly is crate trained and housetrained! She's never been around cats. Molly will be spayed before she is adopted. Nadia

Nadia

Nadia's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This beautiful 2.5 year old female husky/shepherd mix is very gentle -- but also have lots & lots of energy! She can easily jump a 4-foot fence -- even after going for multiple 2-3 mile walk/runs a day! Nadia needs someone who can help her burn off her energy! Nadia is good with other dogs! Also, Nadia knows 'sit'! Nadia is making good progress on housetraining, but she still needs some work. She is crate trained, although she doesn't really like the crate. However, it is necessary to crate her when no one is home since she can be destructive if left out of the crate. We don't know how she is with young children, but she is probably fine with older children who know how to properly treat a dog. Nadia is not good with cats or other small creatures, such as ferrets. Nadia has 1 brown eye & 1 blue eye! She is very striking! Click on Nadia's picture to see her relaxing in the grass at a recent showing. ADOPTED 9/28/2008

She gets along well with the adult dogs and puppies in her foster home, and she is working on housebreaking. Nadine is up to date on her shots. ADOPTED 11/2/2008

Nickie

Nickie

Nickie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

A Lonely Hearts Club Dog

This 16-month old female pup was found as a stray with her brother, Clay! Clay was adopted, but Nickie still needs a home! She is just so sweet & loving! Nickie is a calm & affectionate dog! All of the PAWS volunteers just love her! Nickie only weighs about 40 lbs -- so she is smaller than what her picture makes her look. We think Nickie is an Am. Staffordshire terrier mix. She might also be mixed with doberman or greyhound. Nickie needs a home with no other dogs or cats. Nickie is frightened by some men, especially those that look sort of "wild", and she will sometimes react aggressively to them. For this reason, Nickie will be placed in a home in which everyone is skillful at handling dogs with her issues. Click on her picture to see what a baby she is being held by a volunteer. She loves to give kisses and show you her belly as well. Nickie is living in a kennel & needs a home! Click on Nickie's picture to see another photo of her! ADOPTED 10/13/2008

Oscar

Oscar's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Oscar is a very large yellow lab with a huge heart to match his size. He's basically a big, goofy dog that playful and very loving. Oscar came to us as a stray (the best fed stray we have ever seen!), but the people who found him kept him with their dog for a week and the two got along great. He definitely loves other dogs and wants to play with them. We think Oscar is at least partially house trained. Given how friendly he is, we think he'd be great with kids, although small children could easily be knocked over. Oscar currently tips the scales at 140lb! He is now on a low-cal diet and an exercise regimen and his adoptive family would need to work on getting Oscar into shape. ADOPTED 9/23/08

Ozzie

Ozzie

Ozzie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 5-year old male purebred chocolate lab loves to play! Ozzie likes to play fetch & frisbee! He also like to go swimming! Ozzie is very energetic! Ozzie is very calm & well behaved when he is in the house! He knows 'sit' & 'down' & is quite smart! Ozzie is excellent with other dogs, including small ones! However, he is a dominant dog -- so he need to be the dog in charge! He is also good with children of all ages (although he doesn't like to be around children who jump around a lot). Ozzie will chase cats. Ozzie talks to you when he wants attention! He is housetrained & cratetrained, although he is fine left alone in the house without a crate. Ozzie will go through an underground (invisible) fence, so when he's outside, he needs to be either on a leash, tie-out or in a fenced yard. Ozzie is already neutered. Ozzie is living in a kennel & needs a home! Click on Ozzie's picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 9/3/08

Paco

Paco

Paco's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little male chihuahua only weighs less than 10 lbs.! Paco just loves to be held! He is good with cats. Paco lives with other dogs, but he would rather be the only dog in the family. Paco was abused earlier in his life. Consequently, he doesn't like to be around children. Paco is housetrained & cratetrained, although he is marking in his current home (this is probably due to the presence of the other dogs in the household). Paco doesn't like large dogs or his toenails clipped. Paco is already neutered. He is about 5 years old. Click on Paco's picture to see another photo of him! ADOPTED 1/27/08

Pam

Pam

Pam's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 6-year old female pug is a very happy & loving dog! Pam only has 3 legs. She was hit by a car a few years ago, & the leg wasn't properly treated, so it had to be amputated. Having 3 legs doesn't slow Pam down, though! Pam is good with other dogs & cats! Pam is good with children who are old enough to know how to properly handle a small dog (about 10 years or older). Pam is housetrained & crate trained, although she does have accidents at night. ADOPTED 5/18/08

Peanut

Peanut

Peanut's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 1-2 year old male beagle is so mild mannered & good tempered! Peanut is excellent with other dogs & cats! He has had exposure to children (including toddlers) & he does very well with them! Peanut is a little shy around men at first, but he takes to women right away! Peanut was originally found as a stray. He stayed in the garage of the people who rescued him, & he never made any housetraining mistakes! He has also been very good at PAWS! So we think that Peanut is housetrained, although he may need some reinforcement when he enters a home. Peanut is gun shy, so he can not be a hunting dog. Peanut is living in a kennel at PAWS & needs a home! He will be neutered before he is adopted. Click on Peanut's picture to see another photo of him. ADOPTED 1/29/08

Penny

Penny's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

They reported that he is seems to be okay with other dogs. Rebel has been around cats, but he constantly barks at them. Rebel is housetrained, & has been fine in the house when left alone. He was crated as a puppy. To tell you he needs to go outside, Rebel will wimper or go to the door. Rebel needs some solid chew toys because he is still very much a puppy & likes to chew on things. He was raised with a 3-year old child. He loves to play fetch! He tends to be dominant around other dogs, although he will be passive with them at first. He does like to play with other dogs! They are eight weeks old and a bundle of energy! Size wise they are going to take after their mom and be big dogs when grown! They really liked to be held and are very friendly and affectionate. Their names are Noah, Niles (adoption pending), and Nathan for the boys and Nadine for the girl. The girl is the brown one. She has a beard and a rough coat like a terrier and a tightly curled tail. The boys have longer, fluffy (and very soft!) coats more like a golden retriever than either a lab or a rottie. They're very sweet, nicely socialized, and not particularly active (yet). A Lonely Hearts Club Dog

This beautiful, sweet sheltie mix is about 10 years old. He is very sweet & gentle! Rusty is good with other dogs & cats. He has been around children & is good with them! Rusty enjoys people and other dogs, ignores cats (even when they try to play with him), and is a very low-energy pet! Rusty doesn’t jump up on people or furniture. He likes to bark hello at cars and people passing by. Rusty needs a relatively quiet family who will brush his long flowing hair, stroke his silky head, and make sure he eats only his special anti-allergy food and treats. He needs a constant supply of water because of a long-standing kidney ailment—and therefore needs to go out every 4-5 hours. (He can make it through the night okay). Because of a previous skin allergy, he comes with his own medicated shampoo. (Please don’t use anything else.) He will return your love many times over. Click on Rusty's picture to see a different photo of him! ADOPTED 5/22/08

He is also an energetic little dog! Rusty loves to go for walks & to go outdoors! He loves to sleep underneath the covers with his person, cuddled up next to their knees! So Rusty is the perfect dog for someone who loves to have their dog close to them! We don't know how Rusty is with small children. He would probably be fine with older children (12 or older). Rusty tolerates other dogs & will play with them -- as long as Rusty is the one to initiate play. He gets a little annoyed if the other dog initiates the play. In the past Rusty has chased cats, but in his foster home he hasn't bothered with the cats at all! Rusty is housetrained. He is working on crate training in his foster home. ADOPTED 9/28/2008

Sweetie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little terrier mix is adorable! Sweetie needs a home in which someone is home all of the time (she's okay if you go out for a couple of hours, but she gets upset if it's longer than that). She is quite the couch potato & just wants to sit on her person's lap or be held! Sweetie loves to go for walks! She prefers to walk 3 times a day! She also loves going for rides in the car! Besides being alone, Sweetie does not like thunderstorms. She will paw at her person during a storm. Sweetie can not be crated (she can claw a hole in a plastic crate in a relatively short period of time!) This little girl just needs a nice quiet home in which her person is home all the time. She does not like dogs bigger than herself (she is about 8 lbs.), although she is okay with cats. She is afraid of children. However, she should be okay with a quiet teenager in the house. Sweetie was probably abused at one point in her life. Sweetie is housetrained. ADOPTED 6/23/08

Techa

Techa

Techa's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 5-year old female corgi-sheltie mix only weighs about 20 lbs.! Techa is good with other dogs! She is good with children, but young children (under 7 years) scare her. We don't know how Techa is with cats. Techa is an easy-going, low-energy dog. However, she is skittish, and would do best in a home without a lot of noise. (She's scared of loud sounds). Techa is housetrained & spayed. Techa can be yippy when people come to the home. She gets carsick, so she would do best with a family that doesn't want to take her on a lot of car trips. Click on Techa's photo to see another picture of her! ADOPTED 3/3/08
