This 8-year-old cattledog/blue heeler mix is friendly and loves children. She has spent most of her life as an outside dog, so she will need some house training. Babs is spayed and up to date on shots. She has been an only dog, so she's not used to other dogs or cats. She seemed to like the dogs she met at PAWS, though, so we think she could learn to live with another dog. Babs has lived with children ranging in age from 3 to 13, so she's good with all ages. She recently had ACD surgery and is recovering in her foster home.

Bandit

Bandit

Bandit's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 7-year-old husky is very sweet. He has spent most of his life as an indoor/outdoor dog, but we believe he is housebroken. He is good with other dogs and children. Bandit is very gentle, but he will growl when you touch the underside of his belly. If he goes to a home with children, they will need to be taught not to touch him there. He has not been around cats. He needs a foster home.

Blacky

Blacky

Blacky's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Blacky was born on December 24, 2003 and has very soft fur. He is a mixed breed who's mother is a German Shepherd mix, and he is from the same litter as Scrappy. He loves to run and play and is good with kids. He was adopted out with his brother and was returned for chewing too much, as puppies often do. He's been around other dogs and is paper-trained, but not totally housebroken. He walks very well on a leash. He is good with cats, though sometimes too playful, and he loves children. Blacky has had one round of puppy shots.

Bogie

Bogie

Bogie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This poor fellow came to us after his owner died. He is probably about 6 years old and will be neutered before he is adopted. Bogie has spent his whole life outside and will need to learn about housebreaking. He is very sweet, though, and worth the effort. We know that he is good with other dogs. We don't know how he is with cats and children.

Brigit

Brigit

Brigit's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little girl was born on Christmas Day. We think she's probably a lab/boxer/pointer mix, with a couple other things thrown in! Brigit is a sweet puppy, but she is fearful of new people. She is much better once she gets to know you, though. Brigit is crate-trained and doing well on housebreaking. She likes children, but can be jumpy and a little nippy at times when playing with them, so we recommend she goes to a home with older children or no children. She is working on basic obedience training in her foster home. Brigit has shown some signs of toy aggression in her foster home and is food aggressive with other dogs, but not with people. She has had one round of puppy shots.

Butterscotch

Butterscotch's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This little fox terrier/chihuahua mix will steal your heart! He is about 8 years old and still full of energy. Butterscotch loves to cuddle, especially under the covers. He is definitely a lap dog and loves to sit on his foster mom's lap while she works on the computer. He walks well on a leash and enjoys riding in the car. He is good with cats and other dogs, though he'd prefer to be the only dog in the house. He is not good with young children, but would be fine in a home with older children or teenagers. He is neutered, housebroken and will be up to date on shots.

Cadence

Carlie

Carlie

Carlie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This poor little poodle mix was found as a stray the week before Christmas. She was dirty, matted and in pretty bad shape. She was brought to State College Vet Hospital who cleaned her up. The vet estimates that Carlie is probably around 12 years old. Carlie had many mammory tumors when she was found, which will require surgery. (In fact, there are so many tumors that it will take two surgeries to remove them.) Despite her condition, Carlie remained sweet and loving to all who came in contact with her. She seemed so grateful to have kind people around her. A PAWS foster home has taken her in, and she will live in her foster home until her surgeries are complete and she is recovered. PAWS is accepting donations to help with Carlie's surgery, and we are accepting applications to adopt Carlie once the surgeries are complete. She is a very sweet dog that will offer a lot of love to anyone who offers the same to her.

Chandler

Chandler

Chandler's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Chandler is a 5 month old lab/Australian shepherd mix. He has a very friendly and outgoing personality very much like that of a purebred lab. He has a huge amount of energy and loves to play with soft and chew toys, and will need to be placed with a person who is active enough to keep up with him. He also loves to play with other dogs, and is appropriately submissive if on their territory. He likes cats, too, but would probably be too much energy for some. Chandler has not had much experience with very young children, but seems to be nice with everyone. However, because of his energy, older children would probably be better. He is expected to be between 40 and 50 pounds when full grown. Chandler would love to be placed in an active home where he could get lots of attention, and will make a great companion for the right family.

Chase

Chase

Chase's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 3-year-old terrier/chow mix is very well-trained and great with people. She does not like other dogs, however, and is causing all kinds of havoc with her current canine roommate. Chase is spayed, housebroken and crate-trained. She is up to date on shots and has completed obedience school. She knows basic commands and is very well behaved... as long as she's not living with other dogs. Chase does actually get along with some dogs, but would have to be placed as an only dog. She is good with older children and loves to be around people. Chase has been groomed since this photo was taken and now boasts a stylish puppy cut.

This little girl came in as a stray, but it is obvious that she was an owned dog. No one has claimed her, however, so we are trying to find her a new home. Cookie is about three years old. She is a kelpie/cattledog/shepherd mix that weighs about 40 pounds. She is housebroken. She is good with other dogs once she gets to know them, but can growl sometimes when she first meets them. She is learning about cats in her foster home and seems to be OK with them. She is good with children. She is laid back and easy in the house. She loves to be outside and loves to go for walks. She will sometimes bark and chase at cars while on walks, though.

Cracker Jack

Cracker Jack

Cracker Jack's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Cracker Jack came into PAWS as a stray that no one claimed. He is neutered and housebroken and is being crate-trained in his foster home. He is an affectionate dog with a very "soft" mouth. He is extremely gentle when taking toys or treats from people. He does not have any food or object aggression issues and doesn't appear to have any fears or phobias. In the house, Cracker is happy just to be near "his people" and will adjust his activity level accordingly. Past the puppy chewing stage, Cracker doesn't seem to have much
interest in chewing anything at all (even dog bones and Kongs!). He will sleep through the night on a dog bed next to your bed (though he would love to be invited to sleep on the bed with you!). He has the playful energy level of a
labrador and loves to go for long walks (for the first few minutes, he will pull on the leash in excitement) and run in a securely fenced yard. He
certainly will make a loving companion for the right person or family.

She likes older children, but might be better in a home without young children. She is housebroken and working on crate training. She is spayed and up to date on shots. Desi was given up because her owner moved into a nursing home and couldn't take her along. Because of this, she fears abandonment and has a little bit of separation anxiety. Her foster parents are working with this. She is anxious to find a home of her own.

This 2-year-old sheltie/shepherd mix is very friendly, though he is shy around new people and needs an owner that can introduce him to new situations slowly. Once he knows you, though, it's kisses all around! He is very friendly and likes children. He would do best as an only dog. He is neutered, housebroken and up to date on shots. Duke's main issue is his fear of new situations and new people. He needs a patient owner who has a quiet home.

He has not been around cats. He likes children and lived with both older and younger children in the past.

Gordo

She is not completely housebroken, but we think she'll be OK once she gets on a regular routine. She needs a foster home.

Guinness' Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This five-year-old male border collie had a rough start. He was owned by a truck driver who would leave him out when he was on the road. The children in his neighborhood with ride by on their bicycles and throw things at him. Because of this, Guinness is very fearful of children and can be aggressive around them. He needs to be placed in a home with no children. Guinness's aggression centers around children, though he will growl and bark if he is startled by a new person. He is very friendly and loyal to his foster family. He is good with most other dogs and great with cats. He walks well on a leash and responds well to commands off leash. He is neutered, microchipped, housebroken and up to date on shots. He will make a great companion and friend to the right person. ADOPTION PENDING.

Lola

Lola

Lola's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

She is very friendly and affectionate with people she knows, though. She is spayed, housebroken and up to date on shots. She has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and needs to limit her jumping and running. Lola would probably do best as the only pet in her new home, though she has made friends with some of the dogs at PAWS and might be open to sharing a home with the right roommate. Muffy

Muffy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Muffy was the last of nine puppies born on December 24, 2003. She is the smallest of the litter but don't let her size fool you, she's quite a strong-willed little pup.She has the markings of a Rottweiler with soft, short fur. She is very sweet and loves to give kisses. She will probably not
be a very big dog when she's fully grown. She is really good with kids and would make a fine addition to any family. She is not housebroken and
has not been on a leash. She does respond to her name though and will stay close to her person. Muffy will have her first round of puppy shots on March 21st.

Patrick

Patrick's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

If you're looking for a dog that will walk right up to you and give you a big sloppy kiss, Patrick is your dog! This two-year-old beagle mix is super friendly and loves everyone. He is a little energetic, but mainly because his previous owners had not trained him not to be. With a little work, Patrick will make a great pet. He is good with other dogs, loves kids and would probably be OK with cats, though he has not met any yet. He is neutered, housebroken, crate trained and up to date on shots. He needs a foster home.

Penny

Penny

Penny's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 3-year-old terrier mix is a little shy and has some fear aggression issues. She has been through training for these issues, and her new owner will need to attend some classes to see what she has learned. Penny is good with children and perks up around them. Because of her aggression issues, though, we do not recommend she be placed in a home with children. She is good with other dogs, but not good with cats. She is spayed and up to date on her shots. She is housebroken.

This 5-year-old border collie/English Springer Spaniel mix is very friendly and loves people. He is good with other dogs and used to play with his neighbor. He has not been around cats. Rocky's "father" passed away earlier this year, and he is too much for mom to handle on her own, which is why he needs a new home. He loves to run and play in the yard. He is a great companion. Rocky is neutered, housebroken, up to date on shots and crate trained.

Rollie

Rollie

Rollie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 10-month-old collie/sharpei mix is such a sweetheart. His current owner works long days, and Rollie is crated while she's gone. He gets so lonely, he tries to break out of his crate and has rubbed the fur off his nose in the process. She is worried that he will hurt himself trying to escape from his crate, so we're looking for a new home for Rollie. Rollie will be neutered and up to date on shots before he is adopted. He is crate trained, though doesn't like to spend long periods of time in his crate. He is housebroken. He is good with other dogs, great with children and learning about cats. He needs a foster home.

Roo

Roo

Roo's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 2-year-old terrier/cattledog mix is such a sweetie, but she's got an independent streak! Roo is very friendly and loves to be around people, though she is a special needs dog that requires special handling. We originally thought she was named Roo because her face looks like a kangaroo when she puts her ears up, but we've since learned that she also barks with a "roo" noise. So maybe that's where the name comes from. Roo is currently living in a kennel and enrolled in obedience classes with John Jones. She trains several times a week and is doing very well with training. Based on her history and training experience, she needs to be placed as an only dog with no cats or young children in the home. We are currently looking for someone to either foster or adopt Roo that would be willing to continue her training with John Jones as she has made great progress since beginning her lessons. If you are interested in Roo, please contact PAWS Dog Coordinator Cathy Kassab.

Roxy

Roxy

Roxy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 15-month-old beagle/terrier mix is so sweet. She loves people and is good with children. She is spayed and up to date on shots. She is housebroken. Her current owners are trying to find her a new home because she dashes out the door tracking scents. (That's the beagle in her!)

Rusty

Rusty

Rusty's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This gentle boy originally came in as a stray, so we don't know too much about his history. The vet estimates him to be about four years old. Since we've had him, he's become a favorite among volunteers. Rusty is very gentle and loves to be with people and children. He has lived with cats and dogs, but is not always good with either. Rusty likes most other dogs, but sometimes growls at when they get to close. He is neutered, housebroken and up to date on shots. Rusty is eager to please and responds well to training. He will make a great addition to a family and would be a good first pet.

Sadie

Sadie

Sadie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 4-year-old beagle/terrier mix is a little on the shy side, but super sweet once she warms up to you. She would do best in a home with older children or no children at all as the activity level of the younger ones frightens her. Sadie is spayed and up to date on shots. She is housebroken and good with other dogs. She weighs about 15 pounds.

The Rest of the Story ...

Sammy

Sammy

Sammy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 4-year-old German Shepherd is friendly and loves to be around people. He is being placed because he chases the horses on the farm he lives on. Sammy is good with other dogs and lives with two small dogs right now. He is neutered and up to date on shots. He needs a foster home.

Sasquatch

Sasquatch

Sasquatch's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 2-year-old boy really wanted to be a Dalmatian when he grew up... Sasquatch loves firetrucks and sings along with the siren whenever they go by. Alas, the black lab/pitbull mix only has a couple of white spots and as of yet, has not been able to fulfill his dream of riding on a firetruck. Sasquatch is looking for that perfect someone to spoil him rotten. He is very energetic and playful and loves to go hiking in the woods. He also enjoys fetch in the backyard and -- being a lab mix -- loves to play in the water. Sasquatch does not get along with other dogs, so he will need to be the only dog in his home. He has lived with a cat in the past, but we're not sure how he'd be with a new one. He is good with children, but may knock them down in his enthusiasm. Sasquatch is housebroken, neutered and up to date on shots. He loves to play with stuffed animals and go for rides in the car. He is crate trained. Sasquatch needs a foster home.

Scoobie Doo

Scoobie Doo is good with other dogs, cats and children. He is very friendly and loves people. He is neutered, housebroken and up to date on shots. He would make a great first pet or a good addition to a family.

Scrappy

Scrappy

Scrappy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Scrappy was born on December 24, 2003 and as his name implies is very inquisitive and, well, a little scrappy. He's a mixed breed who's mom is a German Shepherd mix. Scrappy looks sort of like
a terrier. His fur is very soft. He loves to run and play and is good with kids and has a tendency to treat them just like other puppies. He had gone
to a home for a while but was returned because he was chewing too much. (Remember, puppies do that!) He's been around other dogs and is good with them. He is semi-paper-trained and is learning to walk on a leash. Scrappy will have his first round of puppy shots on March 21st.

Sherlock

Sherlock

Sherlock's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This young lab/retriever/great dane/shepherd mix is so sweet. He is about a year and a half old. Sherlock came to PAWS as a stray, so we do not know much about his history. He is very friendly and eager to please. He is smart and has responded well to basic obedience training. Sherlock does well with some dogs, but not all. He would be fine in a home with older children... he is good with children, but his size can be a little much for small kids. He is neutered, housebroken and up to date on shots. He likes to go hiking and would make a great jogging partner.

Stryder

Stryder

Stryder's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This 1-1/2-year-old terrier mix has a special place in the hearts of many of the PAWS volunteers. He is looking for a very special home. Because of his past history, Stryder needs to be placed in a home with no other animals and no children. (Stryder loves children, but he is too active for a child to control.) He would do fine in a large apartment where he would get regular leash walks or in a home with a fenced-in yard. Stryder is very loyal and will make a great companion for someone. He is neutered, up to date on shots and housebroken. He has been crate trained, but will sometimes bark in his crate. He loves to run and makes a great jogging partner, as long as he is kept on leash. If you are interested in Stryder, please contact one of the dog coordinators at 237-8722 ext. 2 or dogs@centrecountypaws.org.
