Female - spayed
Domestic shorthair, calico/tabby
DOB: EST 11/22/12

- Should do well in a home with quiet, older children, other cats, and/or dogs.
- Rescuer was unable to keep her.

Activia is a sweet, friendly kitty who needs a quiet household. In fact, she's a wee bit bashful about being named after a famous yogurt. (You've seen the TV commercials with Jamie Lee Curtis, right?). In fact, Activia recently wrote a poem about her name.

There once was a cat named Activia,
Who wanted to be named Olivia.
Her yogurt-y name
Brought her so much fame,
She wanted to move to Bolivia.

You can get to know Activia whenever we're open. =^..^=

Amber's foster mom says, "Amber has turned into a HUGE attention fiend! I swear she has been watching YouTube videos of cute things other cats do. When I’m scooping litter, she uses her paw to move my hand to her head to pet her. She has also turned into a major lap cat – she loves to jump up and settle in. Amber is a little shy initially, but she warms up pretty quickly. She’s a wonderful kitty – affectionate, but not demanding. She LOVES attention and is happy to show you how much she loves you. She loves to snuggle with her fellow foster cats – doesn’t matter which one.”

Male - neutered
Domestic shorthair, black/gray tabby with white chin
DOB: EST 3/27/06

- Should do well in a home with quiet, older children and/or dogs.

- Surrendered because he wasn't a good fit for his family.

There are lots of different kinds of beans. Restaurants have green beans, sweet shops have jellybeans, movie theatres have Pirates of the Carri-bean, and Hollywood has, sadly, has-beans. But only PAWS has BEAN! Bean is a wonderfully friendly, people-loving cat who needs a quiet home. He would be a wonderful companion cat. Bean loves attention and petting and will do his best to wrap himself around you and cover you with love while you pet him! Stop by and have a visit with Bean whenever PAWS is open.

Female - spayed
Domestic shorthair, brown ticked tabby
DOB: EST 7/4/15

- Should do well in a home with slightly older children, other cats, and/or dogs.
- Owner had too many other cats to care for.

Beauty’s holiday foster mom says she’s a very sweet little girl and will make a wonderful companion for someone. She likes to sit near you or on your lap, purrs loudly when she’s happy, and loves to have her head scratched and her belly rubbed. She’s well behaved with visitors.

Beauty has an endearing personality! She’s a little klutzy, but she loves playing with toys, especially toilet paper rolls, running up and down the steps, and investigating piles of clothes left on the floor. She’s also a brave kitty, unafraid of vacuums, electric toothbrushes or hair dryers!

Be sure to meet Beauty when you visit on Saturday or Sunday.

Please note that Beauty sometimes nips at hands when she's playing, so she will do best with slightly older children.

Captain Jack's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Male - neutered
Domestic shorthair, black/gray tabby

Cashew

Cashew

Cashew's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Female - spayed
Domestic shorthair, light gray tabby
DOB: EST 5/10/16

- Should do well in a home with quiet, somewhat older children, other cats, and/or dogs.
- Stray. Rescuer was unable to keep her.

Cashew is a beautiful, shy kitty, who doesn’t like a lot of commotion in her life. Although it takes her a little while to warm up to people she hasn’t met before, once she’s comfortable, her true personality – friendly, lovey, and playful – shines through! Her foster mom says, “She loves the other foster cats we have – she is frequently found snuggling with at least one of them. She doesn’t seem to care who she snuggles and nuzzles with – as long as it’s someone. I think she would be happier with another cat in the house, but I don’t think it’s a deal-breaker by any means. I believe she could get used to a busier environment. She feels safer when she has an open carrier or secluded spot to hide. She does not like to be picked up and carried – I think that will change as she gets more comfortable with her humans.”

We think you'll be nuts about Cashew, so hurry to PAWS during our open hours, and ask to meet her!

DOB: EST 8/27/14

- Should do well in a home with other cats.
- Would not do well in a home with dogs.

- Rescuer moved and was unable to take him along.

Hello Future Adopter!

I'm Charcoal, and I'd like to be your cat! I’m very friendly and affectionate, so if you want a cat who likes to be petted 24 hours a day, 7 days of the week, I’m your guy! I’m also a climber. If you have a fridge, and you’d like a cat to sit on top of it, I’m also your guy! Speaking of appliances, if you have a dryer, and you’d like a cat to hide behind it when there are scary, loud noises -- you guessed it! – I’m your guy! So please stop by and meet me whenever we’re open.

Love,
Charcoal

ADOPTED 2/7/17

Ciao

Ciao

Ciao's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Male - neutered
Domestic medium hair, white w/orange tabby
DOB: EST 8/20/16

- Should do well in in a home with children, other cats, and/or dogs.
- Stray. Rescuer was unable to keep him.

Hi! My name is Ciao and I’m going to tell you about myself. My foster mom told me my name means Hi AND Bye! Isn’t that cool? And when you say my name, you say it like this – Chow. Chow is like food, right? Do you have any treats you can give me?

OK, so I like to eat and I like to play but I most especially like to snuggle. My foster mom says I’m a world class snuggler and a soft, cuddly lap kitten with a sweet personality. That's good, right?

If you think you might want me to be your lap kitten, you can come to PAWS and snuggle with me on Saturday or Sunday. =^..^=

Claire

Claire

Claire's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Female - spayed
Maine Coon Mix
DOB: EST 6/3/07

- Should do well in a home with children, other cats, and/or a calm, older dog.
- Returned to PAWS because she wasn't a good fit for the family.

Claire’s holiday foster mom says she LOVES to snuggle! "She’s independent, but once she gets in your lap or in your arms, she’s there to stay for a while! She is a lovely little cat, very affectionate, but not demanding. Claire gets along beautifully with everyone. She tends to hiss a little at the other cats, but I think that’s more of a function of being so tiny and having no claws.

“I think she needs to be with another cat in the home. Claire would be an amazing companion cat and also a good family cat. She is really small, so little kids might not be the best idea, unless they are really very calm and quiet.”

You can meet Claire whenever we're open.

He's friendly and personable (if you can call a cat "personable") with humans and other cats alike. We're in love with Coby, and we're certain you'll be in love with him, too. Stop by and get to know this perfect gentlecat (like a gentleman but a cat) during our open hours.

Please note that Coby was bullied by the other cats in the home where he lived. Because of this and because he's an older cat, he must be in a quiet household, treated gently, and surrounded by love!

Fran

Fran

Fran's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Female - spayed
Domestic shorthair, brown tabby w/white
DOB: EST 5/10/08

- Feline Immunodeficiency Virus positive (FIV+)
- Should do well in a home with teenagers.
- Should do well in a home with other FIV+ cats or, under some circumstances, in a home with an FIV negative cat.
- We don't know if Fran would do well with a dog.
- Rescued from the middle of S. Atherton St.
- Would love to be adopted with Garth!

To say that Fran was shy when she arrived at PAWS in May 2015 would be an understatement. She was terrified of people and severely underweight. It took nearly a year of medical care, good food, and lots of love for Fran to be ready for her forever home.

She's still shy, but this teeny girl enjoys attention and gentle petting. She generally stays in her little cubby when there are people in her room, but when all is quiet, she ventures out to hang out with her buddy, Garth.

Fran needs a special adopter, with plenty of love and patience. If you think you have what it takes, please come by to meet Fran during our open hours. She is a very sweet cat, and you will be richly rewarded by having her in your life!

ADOPTED 2/18/17

Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks

Garth Brooks' Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Male - neutered
Domestic shorthair, black
DOB: EST 2/5/05

- Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) positive.
- Should do well in a home with quiet, older children.
- Should do well in a home with other FIV+ cats or, under some circumstances, in a home with an FIV negative cat; dogs unknown.
- Stray. Rescuer was unable to keep him.
- Would love to be adopted with Fran!

Garth was a sorry sight when he arrived at PAWS, with ears, eyes, and teeth that needed work, but the PAWS medical team went into action, and Garth is feeling much, much better. (Yes, we know he still looks a bit ragged, but we think that's part of his charm!) We've discovered that he's a friendly, affectionate little guy with a cute, quirky personality.

Here's the latest report from Garth's Pet Partner:

He's an easy-going guy with a very determined attitude. He gets along with other cats very well, and would love to be with a friendly cat in his adoptive home. He's energetic, loves to play with wand toys, and especially loves to be brushed and stroked. He loves sitting on a lap and being stroked from head to tail. He's a talker, and (in his croaky voice) lets you know he's glad to see you!

You can visit Garth during our open hours.

Hermie slept in bed with my sister-in-law when she visited over Christmas, followed us around the house and wanted lots of love and attention. She had full rein of the house and even began interacting with her foster sister, Gigi, and they seemed to become friends during the second week. Hermione would make a fantastic family cat!”

Hoppy

Hoppy

Hoppy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Female - spayed
Domestic shorthair, gray tabby
DOB: EST 6/17/03

- Front declawed.
- Should do well in a home with children and/or other cats.
- Would not do well in a home with a dog.
- Owner moved and no longer had room for her.

Hoppy's holiday foster mom said, "Hoppy was such a sweet cat. I really see her as a good companion cat in a quiet home. She isn't a lap cat but she would jump up on the couch and snuggle next to you. She isn't the type of cat that requests constant pets or is a purr-machine. She just wants to be with everyone and is perfectly content with sitting next to you or, when we were in the kitchen, she was happy to sit next to our sliding glass windows and look outside.

"My little 3-year-old cousin came over the one evening and Hoppy tolerated her decently. My cousin just wanted to sit next to Hoppy and pet her, and as long as she wasn't loud, Hoppy stayed put. It was pretty cute. So Hoppy can tolerate young kids, but I still think she would be best with older kids/not a ton of excitement."

If you're interested in adopting a gentle, good-natured, companion, Hoppy might be the right kitty for you! You can find out by visiting Hoppy during our open hours.

Jake's a feisty little fellow who's awfully cute. Just look at that sweet pink nose! Jake really, really wants a home, so he wrote a poem for the PAWS staff and volunteers to tell us just how MUCH he wants a home!

There once was a kitty named Jake,
Who said, “Find me a home, for Pete’s sake!
You all need to hustle,
Or I’ll make a fuss. I’ll
Complain ‘til I cause an earthquake!”

Jubilee

Jubilee

Jubilee's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Female - spayed
Domestic medium hair, black & white
DOB: EST 5/1/16

- Should do well in a home with children, other cats, and/or dogs.
- Stray. Rescuer was unable to keep her.

I’m Jubilee and I’m exasperated! You see, I’ve been at PAWS for almost my whole life! In fact, I arrived at PAWS on May 17, 2016, so I think you’ll agree that I’ve been waiting TOO LONG for my forever family to show up! The volunteers say I’m affectionate, playful, endearing, adorable, charming, and very smart, so what’s up with that?

Here’s the thing. I have LEFTOVER KITTEN SYNDROME! Sometimes Leftover Kittens get leftover because they’re the runts of their litter. By the time they gain enough weight to be adopted, all their brothers and sisters have found their families, and people don’t want them because they’re “too old.” They want a teeny, 8-week-old kitten. One of the volunteers taught me a new word “ironic” because first we’re too little and then we’re too big.

But I’m also a Leftover Kitten because I have a SPECIAL MEDICAL NEED because I take a liquid medicine twice a day to keep me healthy. I guess that makes people not want to adopt me, even though the medicine doesn’t cost very much at all and I don’t mind taking it and as long as I take it, I can live a long, happy, healthy life!

So, I sure hope you’ll consider adopting me. I’m a very special kitten, and I know you would love me if you took me home, and you would be so happy you picked me. Meanwhile, I’ll be at PAWS every weekend waiting for you to show up!

ADOPTED 4/17/17

Domestic shorthair, brown tabby w/white chin

- Should do well in a home with children, other cats, and/or dogs.
- Stray. Rescuer was unable to keep her.

Juniper is a delightful, bouncy "kitt-teen," who adores her foster sister, Eevee. She's sturdy and playful and would be a great fit for a family with little ones. Juniper and Eevee would make a great pair if you'd like to adopt two slightly older kittens (although either one would be fine on her own). You can visit Juniper and Eevee on Saturdays and Sundays.

Oops--Eevee has gone off to her forever home, so Juniper is by herself now and feelin' kinda lonely. :(

Although Ke Ke is a quiet fellow who's friendly and affectionate, we’ve discovered that he has a bold, adventurous side. Recently, in our popular Poetry for Cats class, Ke Ke described how he commandeered a sailboat to make his way to PAWS and almost drowned!

There once was a kitty named Ke Ke,
Who attempted to sail on Spring Creek-y,
He said, “I am sinking!
"Right now, I am thinking.
"I’m certain this sailboat is leaky!"

Kudo

Kudo

Kudo's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Male - neutered
Domestic shorthair, orange & white tabby
DOB: EST 12/20/10

- Should do well in a home with other cats as long as they're introduced slowly; dogs unknown.
- We don't yet know if Kudo would do well in a home with children, but he's a friendly boy.
- Stray. Rescuer was unable to keep him.

Kudo's holiday foster mom has lots of good things to say about him! "Kudo is very friendly and loves being petted. He shows his dignity by not approaching and asking for affection, but waiting until his humans approach him and pet him – you can hear his anticipation in the way he starts purring the instant you walk into the room. He also likes being picked up and carried around like a baby. Kudo is quietly affectionate – he will creep into your bed in the wee hours of the morning and start licking your hands and arms to show his love. He absolutely loves running behind lasers and catnip toys. Kudo is good with visitors, and goes up to them to sniff them when they come over. However, he gets a little startled by people who have loud voices."

In other words, Kudos for Kudo! You can make Kudo's acquaintance whenever we're open.

Mitchell Humphrey & Alicia Joy

Mitchell Humphrey & Alicia Joy

Mitchell Humphrey & Alicia Joy's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Mitchell Humphrey - male, neutered. Domestic shorthair, gray & white.
DOB: EST 1/22/07

- We don't yet know if Mitchell would do well in a home with other cats or with dogs.
- Would not do well in a home with children.

Alicia Joy - female, spayed. Domestic shorthair, gray & white tuxedo.
DOB: EST 5/6/10.

- We don't yet know if Alicia would do well in a home with children, other cats, or with dogs.

- Owner passed away.
- Might be a bonded pair.

Mitchell and Alicia are sweet, gentle cats who arrived at PAWS from the same home. Since they seem to be very attached to each other, we're assessing their behavior so we can determine whether they're a bonded pair.

Cats can become deeply attached to each other and form strong bonds, just like humans do. Mitchell and Alicia may have such a bond, meaning they’d be very unhappy if they were separated.

Adopting Mitchell and Alicia together is a win-win situation for all of you! They (and you!) will live happily ever after together, and you will have two kitties who already get along and who will keep each other company when you're not home, so you won't worry that they're bored or lonely. Best of all, you'll have twice the amount of love in your life!

You can meet Mitchell and Alicia during our open hours.

ADOPTED 1/29/17 - Mitchell Humphrey and Alicia Joy.

He's also very affectionate and will wiggle in as close as possible to snuggle. He could do well with dogs who can deal with all of his energy. He’d do best with slightly older children since he's so in your face when he wants to play.”

You can stop by and watch Olaf's shenanigans on Saturday or Sunday!

ADOPTED 2/14/17

Onyx's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Male - neutered
Domestic shorthair, black/gray tabby w/white

Onyx’s holiday foster mom reports that he easily adapted to her home and her other cats. By the third day, he was crawling into her lap to give her kisses and soon he was snuggling with one of her cats!

She says Onyx is active, loves attention, and is very sweet and affectionate. “On several occasions he has jumped up, stretched out, and lounged around on my lap purring. Although I haven't seen him interact with children, I'm pretty sure he would be a good cat for a family, even one with young children. If I were planning to adopt another cat, I would certainly adopt Onyx!”

You can visit Onyx during our open hours.

Peaches

Peaches

Peaches' Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Female - spayed
Domestic medium hair, orange tabby
DOB: EST 8/16/13

- Should do well in a home with other cats; dogs unknown.
- We don't yet know if Peaches does well with children, but she's a gentle kitty.
- Owner was no longer able to care for her.

They say that cats are mysterious, inscrutable creatures, that we have no way of knowing what they're thinking. Wrong, wrong, wrong! Take Peaches for example. Peaches is a sweet-tempered, affectionate girl who will show you precisely where she wants to be petted by using her feet to nudge your hand to her head. If she feels you haven’t petted her for a sufficient amount of time, she’ll demand more by standing on her hind legs to reach your hand!

Be sure to meet Peaches when you visit on Saturday or Sunday. >'o'<

Pretty Girl's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Female - spayed

- Stray. Rescuer was unable to keep her.

Pretty Girl's foster mom says, "Wow – is Pretty Girl a nice cat! The first few days she was here, she hid. And not just in normal places – I really had to look for her. She wedged herself behind a desk, in a tiny crevice behind my desktop computer, and in such small spaces. I think she is a magician!

"Once she came out of her shell a few days later, she became such an affectionate kitty! She’s not interested in treats or toys or the laser pointer – she just wants to be petted, held, or on your lap, and she seems to want as much attention as she can get. If someone can be a little patient with her, she will be a wonderful cat! I’m so glad we brought her home, and I could get to know her!"

You can meet Pretty Girl during our open hours.

Hello, I'm Pumpkin, and this is my story. I showed up in a neighborhood one day, and some people in the neighborhood started feeding me. I had big sores on my face that really hurt, so they took me to PAWS. I knew I must look really bad because when the people at PAWS saw me, they said things like, "Oh no!" and "Poor baby!" and "He needs to go to the vet right away." Long story short, I got fixed up at the vet's office, and my face is almost healed. The volunteers even let me look at myself in a mirror, and I discovered that I'm a pretty handsome guy! Now I'm ready to have my own people and a home where I can stay forever. If you think you want me to be your new buddy, hurry up and visit me the next time PAWS is open!

Hi, I'm Purrl and my name is a pun. You noticed, huh? They LOVE puns here at PAWS. Frankly, it makes all of us cats roll our eyes. (Seriously. Purrfect. Purrky. Furever home.) But on the subject of eyes, mine are beautiful AND two different colors. And my thick white fur is beautiful, too. If you'd like to stop by and admire me, I'll be here whenever PAWS is open.

Oh, and the humans here wanted me to mention that I have a beautiful, affectionate purrsonality, too!

Rick is a very special cat. He’s charming, good-natured, and gentlemanly. Not to mention devastatingly handsome. =^..^= But Rick is a worrier. So we suggested that Rick write some poetry as a way of dealing with his anxieties. Here’s what he wrote.

Who worried the roads would get slick.
He said, Oh, please hurry!
I think there’s a flurry.

Domestic shorthair, black/gray ticked tabby w/white
DOB: EST 10/13/14

- Should do well in a home with somewhat older children* and/or other cats; dogs unknown.
- Stray. Rescuer was unable to keep him.

Tippy's Toe's foster mom says he's "a very sweet, affectionate cat who’s also very independent. He’s always waiting for us when we come home. He's a friendly companion to have around the house. He likes to look out of windows so he can watch events outside. He’s also very polite. He doesn’t meow at night or much during the day, he has perfect litter box habits, he doesn’t bother plants or furniture, and he’s very gentle. He’s not very fond of being picked up, but he doesn’t bite or scratch when he is.

"Tippy Toes has taken to sitting next to me on the couch, and sometimes he will crawl into my lap. When I put him back on the ground, he tries to quickly jump up and sit on my lap again. Sometimes, Tippy will even jump on the couch if I call him over when I’m sitting there. He likes to have his ears scratched and he likes belly rubs.

"Tippy is also curious. Sometimes when I’m washing dishes he’ll jump up to see what I’m doing. Once he sees what’s going on, he promptly jumps back down. Another interesting aspect about Tippy Toes is that he seems to like getting his photo taken. He is a very handsome cat, and the camera recognizes it"!

You can get to know Tippy Toes on Saturday or Sunday.

*Tippy's foster mom says he probably could adapt to very young children but that their quick movements might frighten him, so even though he's gentle, Tippy Toe's might be happiest with children around age six and up."

Tom & Jerry

Tom & Jerry

Tom & Jerry's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Males - neutered
DOB: EST 5/19/09

Tom - domestic shorthair, black & white
Jerry - domestic shorthair, gray tabby & white

- Should do well in a home with other cats; dogs unknown.
- We don't yet know if Tom & Jerry do well with children.
- Owner moved and was unable to take them along.
- Might be a bonded pair.

Tom & Jerry are SUCH nice boys, gentle, friendly, sweet-tempered, and devoted to each other. They'll also do almost anything for a treat, including, in Tom's case, sitting up and begging!

Now, about bonded pairs. Cats can become deeply attached to each other and form strong bonds, just like humans do. Tom & Jerry may have such a bond, meaning they’d be very unhappy if they were separated. We’re currently evaluating whether the boys are bonded, but, for now, please regard them as a package deal!

Adopting Tom & Jerry together is a win-win situation for all of you! They (and you!) will live happily ever after together, and you will have two kitties who already get along and who will keep each other company when you're not home, so you won't worry that they're bored or lonely. Best of all, you'll have twice the amount of love in your life!

Stop by and meet Tom & Jerry during our open hours.

Until one begs for more.

And promise we'll never part. -- Virgil
