This little girl knows how to get what she wants...she meows! Since her arrival at the center, she's wrapped all the volunteers around her little paw with her mournful mew. She's the type of kitten that starts purring as soon as she realizes you are going to pick her up. She's got a loud purr and is very affectionate. She likes to be around other cats, but plays hide and seek with them. She'll make a great addition to any household. Abbie was born September 2001.

He is named after "Bear" Bryant since his foster Mom found him the weekend Joe Paterno got his big win. Bear loves to chase balls and catnip toys and carry them around in his mouth. Wrestling with his littermates and older foster brothers is a lot of fun too. The dog doesn't scare him at all (actually, he's a little scared of Bear!) Bear gets a little jumpy if someone tries to lunge to grab him (who wouldn't?), but once he's held and feels safe, he purrs as loud as a small motorcycle. Bear was born in September, 2001. She is very friendly and affectionate, however, surrounded by so many cats at the shelter she appears uptight and defensive. But don?t let the appearance mislead you, if you don?t plan to have more than one cat Cherie is the best kitty you could ever dream of.

Because of this, Maxx should be in a home with no other cats or small children. Maxx is long haired but is impeccable about grooming himself. If you plan to have no kiddies or other cats, then Maxx would love to fill that spot in your home and in your heart.

Born in September 2001, Payne is one of several kittens in Kacie's litter.

Pewter

Pewter

Pewter's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Pewter is a very sweet "special needs" kitty. Her coat is thick and sumptuous, and she loves to have it brushed. Pewter's left ear has been trimmed because, at first, she was thought to be feral. The idea was to spay her and return her to where she was found. The cropped ear would assure that no one would try to spay her again. Pewter was born around September 1999. Although still a bit uneasy with people, Pewter is not a feral cat.

Pistol

Pistol

Pistol's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Pistol is a quick one -- he enjoys playing with balls and anything else that moves: bugs, cats' tails, toes... He also really enjoys a good sunny place to take long naps in the late morning through the late afternoon. Pistol likes being with you, but you must play with him before you give him a nice stroke from his head to his tail -- he has his priorities. He also really enjoys the more quiet time after playing as much as playing itself. Pistol can be rather shy at first, so it might take some time to get to know him. He is litter trainer and neutered. He was born in June 2001.

This small and slender gray-and-white kitten is full of energy and love. She prances light-footed with her tail erect, and she loves to rub against gentle dogs. A real sweetheart. Rascal is the daughter of Precious (That means Smokey is probably her aunt.)

Renee

Renee

Renee's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Renee is a brown and black tabby with a white chin and hypnotic eyes... wouldn't you agree? Although she tends to growl and hiss a little, she has never exhibited biting behavior. Renee needs a calm home and someone willing to spend lots of attention and love on her! Renee was born around July 1999.

Ricki

Ricki

Ricki's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Ricki (on the left, with his sister Brittany) and his littermates were born in the woods and hidden so well by his mother, Katie, that the litter could not be found. But when Ricki was 8 weeks old, Katie brought him and his four sisters to her food dish -- the kittens encountered civilization for the first time. It took a while to convince them that a sofa made a better bed than a hollow log but they are definitively house cats now. Ricki likes to play and is affectionate and trusting once he gets to know you. He gets his exercise by stalking, chasing and pouncing on his sisters. In fun of course. Ricki, Myriah, Brittany, Christina, Jessica were born in April 2001.

Rose

Rose

Smokey

Smokey

Smokey's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This multicolored torty is very loving, active, and inquisitive. She and Precious are great friends and most likely are sisters. When they're not curled up on a lap, both are running and playing together. Smokey loves to run around the house chasing anything she can find to play... cats, paper, dust bunnies... you name it. She would love to go outside, but we're not sure that she would come back. She's quite the escape artist and has crept past volunteers more than once while they come in the door. Smokey is very sweet and affectionate and gets along with most other cats. She's not been around dogs, but seems to like the few she's met. Smokey was born around May 2000.

Don't let the name fool you -- give this little girl a window and a patch of sun, and she'll be the happiest cat in the world! Snowball is about 5 years old and has mostly white short hair with some gray spots. She's very loving, and just adores being held and petted. She'd love to be a life-long part of your family!

Sophie

Sophie

Sophie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

I'm a 1-1/2-year old female "tuxedo" cat who has been spayed and front-declawed. I'm good-natured, a little distant at first, but will climb on your lap and soak up your love and attention once I get to know you. I came to the Center with my older sister Priscilla who is initially more outgoing than I am. Priscilla, of course, was adopted right away and now I'm here by myself and feeling pretty blue. Please give me a chance to warm up to you...you'll find I'm playful, easy-going and not nearly as shy as I first appear.

She was born June 2001.

Spunky

Spunky

Spunky's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Spunky is a handsome black-and-tan tiger kitten with gorgeous "bedroom eyes." He loves to romp and play with his brothers and hang out with the older cats in the house. The dog tries to keep his distance, but Spunky wants to be friends with everyone. After he is done playing, Spunky loves to fall asleep on a warm lap and have his belly rubbed. Although his "official" PAWS name is Spunky, his foster mom calls him Pepper. Spunky was born in September 2001. His brothers are Joey, Bear, and Kit Kat.

Sugar Ray

Sugar Ray

Sugar Ray's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

This big guy is a little lost without his owner, who had to give him up due to health problems. He's very friendly and affectionate, a definite lap cat. He would prefer to be the only cat in the house, but could probably tolerate another cat if he had to -- he's getting better with other cats at the center. Sugar Ray was born March 1998. He has allergies and is on a special diet. He is neutered and up-to-date on shots.

Sugarlips

Sugarlips

Sugarlips' Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Am I gorgeous or what? YES! I'm Sugarlips, a medium-haired white kitty with black Turkish Van markings. I'm very intelligent and sweet, and love to sit on a friendly lap. Stroke my fur and speak to me in honeyed tones, and I'll be yours forever. I'm 3 years old, spayed and up-to-date on my vaccines. Because I no longer have my front claws, I must be kept indoors, which I prefer anyway 'cause it keeps me from getting my beautiful coat all dirty. Even though my fur is medium-long, it never mats, so grooming me is very easy. I was harassed by dogs in my former home so I really don't care for them much and would prefer not having to put up with them again. My foster family has a whole Web site devoted to me and my kittens, which I had on August 2, 2000.

Tess

Tess

Tess' Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Dear, sweet Tess is a 4-month old, dilute tortie who was orphaned in the Toftrees area with a terrible case of the "kitty flu," i.e., a bad cold. She's still recovering and a bit shy, but Tess is very affectionate and will blossom with good health and lots of love. In her brief exposure to dogs, she was a bit scared, but should do fine with other cats and older children. .

Thurston

Thurston

Thurston's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

(with Skipper)
Thurston is the dark fellow with the serious little face on the right. He was smallest and weakest of the litter and the least likely to survive on his own. His eyes weren't even open yet, and he was sick and hard to feed...But as you can see, he is a survivor! Thurston is a tough little black kitten who will take on any dog that threatens his food. He's absolutely loveable, though, and loves to be held and to sleep on you. He and his littermates, Gilligan, Skipper, the Professor, and MaryAnn, were born in June 2001.

The Rest of the Story ...

Torrie

Torrie

Torrie's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Torrie is the mother of Brie and Cheddar, foster mom to Felix, Sammy D., and
Lucy. She is a
silky-haired Tortoise shell cat. Torrie walks with a bit of a limp due
to a self-healed broken foreleg and a crushed elbow. She is able to jump
up to a chair seat, but hasn't demonstrated whether she could reach a
window sill. She is tolerant of a dog in her foster home, but warns him
with a hiss or two. While quite laid back in her approach to life,
Torrie will play like a kitten...probably because she never has had
the chance to enjoy playtime and experience the sheer joy of life as a
companion cat! She is truly a wonderful "girl"! Torrie has been spayed. She was born in July 1995.

Ty

Ty

Ty's Bio at the Time of Adoption:

Ty is a stray that was turned over to PAWS in January 2002. He is about a year old, with slick black fur and a white spot on his chest. Ty is very friendly, loves attention, and usually pretty quiet. He doesn't seem to mind other cats, but has not had any exposure to dogs.

Valencia

Valencia

She was born August 1998 and had been living outside for six months before coming to PAWS in mid-August 2001 along with her litter of six kittens. Val is a shy girl and will be spayed before going into a new home. She likes to sit on the window sill and gaze out at the leaves fluttering to the ground but doesn't try to make a mad dash for the door to get outside. Val is ready for adoption in mid-November.
